The fibre optic cables are the early version which means you can only use the gateway lite. You cannot get an adapter to use a gateway 500.
The gateway lite will not give text so you will usually mount a cradle in the front of the vehicle and operate from the iPod/ iPhone. The head unit will do track up and down.
The connections can be done behind the head unit but it is quite difficult to remove. If you connect the fibre optic cables at the cd changer in the rear left of the boot you will require a fibre optic extension lead. A wake up lead needs connecting behind the head unit or at cd changer which is usually a blue/black. (pin 7 behind bosch head unit. NOT THE PURLE WIRE)

Well there is now a solution for adding a parrot or similar bluetooth device. Mercedes vehicles fitted with command systems that have an Audio Gateway will allow this combination to work.

Image of the Stereo in question:

This vehicle has a seperate amplifier so none of the connections are done behind the stereo. This customer only wanted a bluetooth option, so we installed a Parrot CK3100 kit.

We offer a full installation service. Please call David on 020 82880181 or email david@safensound.co.uk

The stereo is exactly the same shape as the original Ford radio and fits seemlessly into the dash.

The wiring is prepared for a direct plug into the ford loom, which keeps the vehicle warranty in tact and there is no need for splicing into any wires.

The steering controls are also retained, but be aware that you loose the Ford voice reconition, but lets be honest how often is that really used!

The customer also wanted to add some bass to the sound so we added one of the new Alpine PDX-M6 600w watt digital mono amplifers. These are extremely powerful for the compact size and work well with an Alpine SWR 1242D dual voice coil subwoofer in a purpose built vented box.
